But nobody mentions when other songs pass it, only "Alejandro." I'm all fine with people saying it's falling, because it obviously is, but people just keep laughing at how "Alejandro" is going up and this is going down, even though either song has nothing in common with each other.

Don't get mad. When NMT came out I posted my opinion on the song, not bashing it, just saying it was lacking a chorus and nothing spectacular. That's true. But there's room for both. Artists don't fight other artists for sales and exposure, they fight themselves to get noticed. I'm sure GaGa & Christina really don't care about each other. They don't hate each other, and I doubt they'd ever love each other, but they're just like two strangers who would pass by each other on a street and not even give a second glance. However, people act like they're both in a competition against each other.

you are naive.. just like in any other domain of activity competition is important and in the entertainment industry competition is ferocious. a lot of things go behind the scenes. xtina lets it slip sometimes with her catty comments towards the other performers i am sure both want to be #1 and yes, they are in competition to eachother on the charts...that's why we have CHARTS.

People mentioned other songs too. There was mention of Eenie Meenie and I mention she was about to fall under Drake.

True artists aren't in it for fame and fortune. They're just in it for fans and the fun. But charts are relative. So a song hit #1. Who cares? I don't like the song at #1, so I'll skip it. It's really up to you to decide if a song did its purpose. Did it get you interested in purchasing the album or the single itself? If yes, it did its job. If no, then it didn't do its job for you.

It's not a strong one, though. I didn't care much for it when I first heard it. I find myself humming it a lot, but I'm still not a huge fan of it. They really made the wrong decision for the lead single. It's a cool song and all, but it seems to me like it will burn fast for me. I am anxiously waiting for the new album. Hopefully there will be better material on it. Which, it sounds like there will be.
