I'm not saying Joanne's numbers aren't impressive. I'm just correcting the person who said DW debuted with much less than Joanne.
We don't even know Gaga's pure sales yet. 125k-135k is what Dangerous Woman did (129k). And why is having a hit seen as a bad thing lol? Dangerous Woman (single) has sold 960k in the US, yet people still went and bought the album.
It's not a bad thing, but selling more in pure sales is more impressive than having your sales inflated by your hit. Of course a combination of the 2 is even better.
I think the Britney fans are too old to even remember what they learned in primary school. We as marketers use $3.99 instead of $4, not $3. Thank me for teaching you something new
Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" was discounted to $4 on Amazon for a whole week (not just one day).
Out of 1.047 million, less than 40k came from the Amazon discount, which is less than 4%. Yet GaGa will do 40% with a one day discount (not even a week, like Taylor's)?
Y'all forgetting that the discount itself was promoted on GMA in front of millions. So of course it inflated the overall numbers. And it's not comparable to Taylor or any other artist. Now they discounted TWO songs to grow SPS. So predictable of her team and her.

I can see gaga being desperate for sales herself like making her team to do it desperately. She is know as a fame hungry artists. She was in light depression after Artpop. She didn't want Joanne to be an exclusive only album (even tho they pay for that) coz she knew it would not look good sales wise.
