As far as I can tell 張靚穎 is in fact a star. Almost 36 million followers on Weibo, constant news flow, her provincial government listed her annual output value at 1.1 billion yuan in August, collects awards like money. I mean, it's obviously rabid stans with VPNs but she's not buying them herself.
She and her husband and team are literally buying THOUSANDS of US iTunes accounts by the minute. They did the same thing in China too, buying thousands of copies of her own album to inflate the sales figure to fool people into thinking she's relevant. Not quite working though.

"buying THOUSANDS of US iTunes accounts by the minute" argument didn't make much sense. It's not even realistically possible. iTunes would've crashed real quick and I'm pretty sure Apple prevent this kind of abuse.
