Omg, I'm finished. WHEW, what an emotional roller coaster. Joanne is a seriously beautiful body of work. There is a definite shift in sound after Perfect Illusion. The first half is overall a little more fun and lighthearted (sans Joanne). The second half is a lot more subdued and slow.
It's so raw, emotional and introspective. I'm in love. After my first listen, I think my favourite songs (not including prior singles/releases) are Diamond Heart, Joanne, John Wayne, Dancin' In Circles, Angel Down and Grigio Girls. Sinner's Prayer didn't really do it for me, and I really wanted Hey Girl to floor me but it didn't. But overall, this album is an absolute triumph and she should be incredibly proud of herself. The production is fantastic. The lyricism is amazing. Her vocals are absolutely astonishing.
I know I'll keep playing this for a long time to come
