OK Sinner's Prayer is good too.
I admit I misjudged Joanne a bit too early and basing myself only on PI. It's already MUCH better than I expected it to be.
Stan for the best song on the album
I was also expecting the album to be a mess so I was pleasantly surprised.
like I'm not an OJH (obsessed Joanne hater) but I just feel like dance pop is where her strength lies
anyway, it doesn't matter because the next album will most likely be all a cappella
Yes, I agree. She shines the most with pop & all the imagery that comes with it. It's all good though, she can still pull off all these other genres.
About the Metacritic front page.. MC is kinda relevant but not as relevant as RottenTomatoes is for movies. I guess music is more subjective than movies. If anything, the low sales will be because of how she's losing steam as a mainstream artist, but not because of MC. So who cares.
What is everyone's rankings of the songs on Joanne so far? After two listens to the album, here is mine. Def subject to change w/continued listens. I have to say I was wrong when I was going to write her off after putting out Perfect Illusion as first single. This album is great. A growth step forward for Gaga and in a good way. Its a good mix of everything on here. Yes, it's not the EDM/Dance Gaga I was hoping for with LG5, but it's very moving and personal and I'm embracing it:
Rankings:
1. Dancin' In Circles (if this isn't a single, it will be another "Gypsy" from Artpop all over again!)
2. Diamond Heart
3. Angel Down/Angel Down (Work Tape) (prefer the original, like the work tape)
4. John Wayne
5. A-Yo
6. Joanne
(hard to rank the rest, since I haven't embraced them enough...)
7. Just Another Day
8 Sinner's Prayer
9. Grigio Girls
10. Million Reasons
11. Come To Mama
12. Perfect Illusion
13. Hey Girl (feat. Florence Welch) (I just can't get into this one yet)

I've decided that I'm warming up to Just Another Slay. I only wish that Brian Newman's trumpet solo was longer because it really added to the song. A Clarence Clemons tea.
The only thing I don't like about the "funk me downtown" line is that I also associate the word funk with the smell. So it gives me a visualization of Gaga having a funky snatch
