I'd have thought with you being a moderator, there'd be far more serious things to address, like the racist and ignorant comments that have been posted up and down this thread by others. It's quite telling how you're not actually addressing them.

Why would a mod address "ignorant comments"?
also I haven't seen anything racist in this thread that i can recall
And I think she will forever be the Queen of Pop, because nobody will be able to touch her in charts, quality, etc. Not with the new music landscape [streaming etc].

Yes, NO other girl will even come close to the impact, the success, the legacy that Madonna has had. She changed the entire industry from music videos, to performance to fashion to setting trends on radio over and over again.
Most of pop acts call her a big influence, her record sales stand at way over 300 million and let's not when it comes to touring. She is untouchable.

Not surprising. Most of you only see what you choose to see. However, you being disillusioned of reality doesn't mean reality still doesn't exist.

Ok but what you think is an ignorant comment can actually be classified as 'your opinion'. if someone says Madonna sucks, do you think i'm going to report them for being "ignorant"? No.

Yes. No one comes close at this point. The impact of Adele or Beyonce or any other successful female artist is not really comparable to what Madonna has meant for pop music.

And "opinions" can be ignorant. If you were to say "Madonna sucks," you would be swiftly reported and you know it. And I love how you ignored the "racist" part of Chimier's statement. The point Chimier was making was that there were racially insensitive and ignorant statements that were made in this thread. And despite members being offended by it, mods didn't even enter this thread. Yet, when Chimier says "I almost mistook you for a moderator there," the mods ran in here suggesting he wasn't staying on topic when he clearly was. He was even threatened to be thread banned. Yet, why weren't the mods as fervent when actual offensive comments were being made? Why weren't they threatened with a thread ban? Did I connect the dots for you?

Well, I am a moderator and this is what's going to happen. Stop trolling and stay on topic or leave. If you won't, then you'll be thread banned. It's really quite simple.

Thank you.

Yea I also noticed the multiple racist and/or just downright offensive comments in this thread by multiple members. The fact that that mod choose to call chimier out for "trolling", even though it was a legitimate argument and rebuttal to the question asked in the op, and not certain members out for offensive and racist comments is very telling. Imo either they both should have been called out or neither.

Madonna will forever be iconic. Her legacy is near untouchable.
Beyonce may sometime in the future, but not anytime soon.
Gaga had her chance. She still could, but I want to wait and see how the Joanne era, the Superbowl and ASIB turns out for her career.

But wait.

It was year end 1985, when firstly Billboard labelled her chart domination of the year (mid Nov 1984 - mid Nov 1985) with the "Queen Of Pop" moniker; indeed from 1985 Smash Hits magazine (which was notorious for giving popstars silly, and sometimes ego bashing nicknames) first labelled her "Her Madgesty" in tribute to Dame Edna Everage's Madge, silent, sour-faced "bridesmaid and travelling companion", after a week of their Saturday night ITV chat show when they did a medley of Into the Groove/Like A Virgin/Material Girl in tribute when beau Sean Penn was a guest; in the aftermath of her brilliant Live Aid performance; which resulted in her album Like a Virgin going to top the UK charts; and Into the Groove & Holiday becoming the top two in the singles charts."

Could it be? And does that mean that they came up with MJ's honorific title in 1988 in response to M's from 1985? And if so, does that shake the notion in a sexist society that a woman would always naturally follow a man.

Good job. M's title doesn't go past 1985.
I still think it says something that it was so naturally assumed that M's title must have been a consequence of MJ's, rather than for her own achievements...which it was, obviously; this newspaper clipping didn't inspire Billboard to find a QOP, she was given it for her own accomplishments, and still is.

Nope it's just a telling of your opinions and denial of fact. How are you going to infer in your previous post that MJ was called the KOP in 1988 as a result of her being called the QOP in 1985, but now that I pull out the reciepts there is no connection between their two titles at all?
It was alright to switch it around and make it seem like she was called the QOP first and the KOP was a play off of that. It was ok, before the reciepts, to say that MJ was called the KOP as a play off of her title but when we see yet again that the QOP was just a play off of his then it is suddenly about her achivements right?
No matter how much you like it or not MJ was considered pop royalty first. Every other media title, Queen of Pop, Princess of Pop, Prince of Pop etc. is just a play off of that. The media chooses who they want to call these things based on his standard and who came the closest to him.
