There were 8 people on my plane home that went to the show last night (maybe more, those were just the ones wearing merch). Columbus stans so hard, hopefully Queen will bless us here someday
The Obama thing from my section didn't feel awkward, she went on a bit of a tangent to herself at that point trying to work out how many years ago it was that she was on SNL and that's how she remembered. Like nobody booed him or anything, I just think nobody was that tuned in to catch what she was saying right then. It just sounded like "That was when Obama dmnsnsjsksksk first msnsnwjaiansnjsjs 8 years ago"
She finished the SD speech (it's so funny how she speeds up to fit it all in every time) saying that the US needs that kind of love right now because of what's going on in our country. It read as some pretty awesome subtle Trump shade.
There was a fan up front who had been to a Verona show and she asked if it was the one where it rained (it was), she talked about her raincoat asked if that was the show where she called out the woman with the tripod and a bunch of people said yes, then she explained how the venue actually told her like four times to take it down, so that's why she called her out and then said that's what she was like.
I forget what triggered that (Skyfall probably) but she said the first two things in an American accent and then followed it up with she'a actually very proud to be British.
Thanks for clarifying, i love her Sweetest Devotion speech, she looks passionate when talking about her son though i find it funny when she speeds up her talk
I was wondering this myself.... I vaguely remember someone posting what was submitted in each category on ATRL in years past. Hopefully it'll come out soon; I'm dying to know!
I know some of y'all don't like repetitive hooks like RHI, which I understand, but honestly the whole RHI song, repetitions included, is pure genius. Idk if anyone else has mentioned this, and maybe I'm just making things up, but I always interpreted the repetitive "Rumour has it" and "ooh" and the multiple layered background vocals during the chorus to be representative of all the people around her gossiping, like how people are like "ooh, so scandalous!" or "guess what I heard, rumour has it..." So the chorus is symbolic of all these people loudly talking at the same time in a crowd, spreading rumours. It's a case where repetition actually serves a purpose and is successful at it.
