people of this new generation dont get it with social media. but in this generation NO ONE is a star like madonna in the 80s, 90s, and early 00s. Madonna is the first female pop star when you think about it, the first woman who did it her own way

I don't know if your Lady Gaga fandom hinders your perception of Madonna because you do shade her a lot, but you being an MJ fan should be able to recognise what both of them did for pop culture and why their status is so inimitable.

Googling "new Queen of Pop" gives you Lady Gaga.

Googling "new King of Pop" gives you Michael Jackson.

I don't run Google, I was just making an observation. And for what it's worth, Madge gets equated to MJ here constantly, despite him being much more successful, and having a greater cultural impact.

I disagree...I say artists who are consistently successful in this current era of music where everyone has more opportunities to be successful in the music industry is more of an accomplishment than "studio" artists who received preferential treatment from labels in the 80's and 90's...

artists of today are not mysterious, there's nothing special about them thanks to social media. that untouchable feeling of seeing a real star.. that's where the mass hysteria with Madonna and also the beatles came from

now all stars are reachable and approachable

that special feeling is gone. people born after 1996 just dont get that

And the title Queen of Pop is not solely based on success. M has had huge influence on pop culture. (pop music, fashion, feminism, equal rights, concert productions etc.)

Depends on the star...I think Beyonce is very mysterious...we don't know who she really is in her private life, how she really interacts with Jay or Blue Ivy...

Rihanna is the same in the respect that her "badgal" persona masks her personal life...we really don't know much about the real Rih other than what she wants/allows us to see...

Ariana Grande and Bieber aren't very approachable...

I think you think that way because Madonna is in the twilight of her career, and you are looking at all her accomplishments stacked against newer artists that haven't been around as long as she has. "Special Feeling" is ambiguous....you like what Madonna does, people like Taylor Swift...and they are good at what they do, but they don't give me a feeling one way or the other.
