Tbh I do enjoy closer more than majority of the songs in the Top 10 so... lets just say it's been a bad few months in terms of music. Closer is still the most enjoyable to listen to (sans Starboy)

Uh... Closer IS a monster hit. I mean its at #1 Digital, #1 Streaming, and #1 Radio. And it's not a hit that tops charts for 1-2 weeks. It's been topping for 2 months now. Let's not pretend it's not a monster hit. It consecutively got WEEKS above 2M streams per day on spotify and multiple 150k+ weeks which is hard in today's market

It also depend on their promo schedules. Buble is doing mediocre so far in preoders. But that isnt his strong point tho.

Closer is a monster hit without question. Sales doesn't mean anything to being a monster anymore (and regardless, it's been #1 on itunes for how many weeks now?), it's all about how big you are on Spotify/VEVO, in which Closer is doing amazing and eclipsing peers.

CSTF! was still a huge hit despite that. Radio/sales still matter, but streaming is where it's really at in terms of impact and matters the most now by a large margin.

For example, OD and Closer were much bigger than CSTF!, but CSTF! was so overexposed on itunes/radio that it will at least be remembered as one of JT's biggest hits in the past 10 years. It just won't be a potential classic like Closer or OD. "Remembered" doesn't have to mean classic, I personally put classic on a higher tier. And since OD/Closer slaughtered CSTF! on streaming, those are on the higher tier.

My point was that despite that, CSTF! won't just be a quick lil forgotten single. Still one of the signature songs of 2016, specifically of the summer.

I saw someone say this earlier but basically Spotify/streaming represents 21 and under and itunes represents 21 and over. Then there's other demographic breakdowns from there but beyond the scope of my post.

The under-21s is where the real impact is made, but hits with over-21s can still be remembered, just not as on big a magnitude persay?

CSTF! will be very forgotten imo, guess we have to agree to disagree.

Sales will mean nothing in a few years so it's not like you'll be able to use or care to use iTunes in a few years to prove it's remembered. It'll be streaming that'll indicate what's remembered and it did terrible on streaming while a hit, so obviously it won't do any better in a few years.

Can't Stop the Feeling! is also a Soundtrack single (tied to a Soundtrack that bombed) and not tied to any of his studio albums so when his hits and career are looked back on the song won't necessarily be one of the first thoughts.

And it definitely does NOT hold a candle to the big #1's this year. One Dance, Work, Hello, Sorry, Love Yourself, and Closer felt a whole different level of huge compared to it.

It's at the bottom of the barrel of 2K16's #1's with PILLOWTALK and Cheap Thrills.

Also CSTF! wasn't a streaming flop. Never was its bigget popularity component, but still had many weeks pulling 10M+. It did good there, also of course those numbers are not really good when you compare them to other number-one hits. Still it's gonna end up in Top 15 of biggest songs this year in the US (Year End).
