The difference between star power and not so much.

Twilight =/= Trolls. No one would've cared about the Trolls ST whether it included a hit by JT, Bruno, or The Weeknd. Soundtracks tend to initially sell based on the hype of the movie they include and then have longevity based on the combined longevity of its host movie and the music content within it. So Twilight sold 105,000/500,000 based on its movie host, its audience, and its MULTIPLE well-liked hits and sountracks (you are leaving A Thousand Years btw, which ultimately ended up more remembered than It Will Rain).
Trolls is a random children's movie soundtrack that no one knows or ever cared about. Does not mean JT lacks starpower overall lol. The Trolls soundtrack has always entirely been centered solely around CSTF! and the rest was predictably forgettable trash. Twilight soundtracks had been a hit with fans of the franchise since 2008 because the fans liked it and it made their audience happy. Bruno helped promote the one he was in, but it success/sales are not solely creditable to IWR.
tl;dr the Twilight soundtracks have a stronger built-in audience and are stronger soundtracks OVERALL (not just Bruno) than a random Trolls movie that no one would've even blinked out without CSTF!
