Whilst we're all here can we discuss an aspect of Gaga's songwriting real quick
Lyrically, why does she often add a syllable that's not really there? I say this because I'd thought A-Yo's lyrics were something along the lines of the four-syllable "We smoke em' all" and it just sounded weird bc of misheard live vocals and stuff, but turns out she's sneaking in another syllable and saying "we're smoking them all" (or something to that affect). It's almost as if she's trying to syncopate it, but it's not quite there so I don't think so. It feels kind of awkward though.
The same happens in Sexxx Dreams. The rhythm is so set up to be "Last night, you were in my sex dreams", but for whatever reasons she squeezes in "damn, you were in my sex dreams". It comes out "daymiunimum sex dreams!" unless you actually know the lyric. That probably throws me off the most because to add "damn" in a sentence that already makes sense and fills the space of the phrase (it's not like it needs another syllable or word to make it sit better), she must really be doing it for a specific purpose. I just can't work out what it is - thoughts?
I'm soooo glad that she changed the Sexxx Dreams pre-chorus though, between Swinefest and release, from the original "and I think-a you" to just "I touch myself and think-a you". That'd still annoy me to this day if it was on the album
