"And I promised if I won this this tonight, I'd announce the name of my new record. It's called Born This Way, and the lead is called Heavy Metal Lover: oooooooooooh, heavy metal lover / ooooooooooooh, heavy metal lover.
Thank you! "
that single is when her downfall started, and she continue it with Judas Easter release. TEOG managed to save era for a bit but career damage was already here.
It's tragic reccurent stream/sales tell you noone was here for it. It smashed purely due to hype (it got 100m AI in debut week, and you can't really flop with that).
No it wasn't, the video was the G.P repellent as the audio if it existed today would have been as huge as B.R back then. Gosh!! What put off the G.P were the excess gimmicks, like slime out of her Vajay jay,the intro and Judas was equally a turn off and considered a gimmick, awesome song the wrong time. Would have smashed if it wasn't an Easter release date. All the songs were good including BTW
Were you even their for the era, when the audio was big in its youtube views?
EDIT: I hope you got, the bit on youtube,in terms of BR's YouTube streams views, BTW audio was heading up there also
ugh the vocals in PI are so annoying, i can't even listen to the song anymore. "it was a perfect illusion", the way she says that just GRATES on me
i actually love the vocals in PI
i guess i understand why people don't, but i think she sounds great in PI and MR, as well as the 30 second snippets. different vocal style than on other albums--more Dope-y but not as over-the-top, ya know? haha
TEOG should have been the first single, followed by BTW, then MTN then You and I.
TEOG would have been a guarantee #1
BTW would also debut #1 because of the hype and the fact that it would have been released before the album.
MTN would have a nice peak inside top 10.
You and I would be perfect to close the Era with that top 5 peak.

I agree with TEOG
Altho anything would debut at #1 at that point. Altho i think TEOG would probably join PF/BR/JD when it comes to sales. I mean the fact it managed to do well despite that mess of a video and despite BTW and Judas ruining monumentum...

Judas is actually the reason why her career is in this state right now. She should have stick to TEOG as her lead single.

I don't think it's just Judas. Altho Judas could be easely avoided if she released it at another time. Did she really think radios would spin it on Easter and Good Friday?
But I don't think people ditched her cause of that, i mean it's more about her imagine in general being poralizing. Not to mention huge hype she had and then she came out with that mess of a lead single
I just wish Gaga was smarter about her career choices. The fact that she released Judas on a Holiday, then releasing 16 minute video for MTN, then there was the whole ARTPOP fiasco.
Her last 2 eras were basically a huge amount of mistakes after mistakes.
