Except "This Is What You Came For" is probably the single most basic and generic bop of the year (if anything, its only competition is "My Way"). Calvin's output this year has been dreadfully, mind-numbingly stale. Bops, but like, you can tell absolutely no effort went into them whatsoever and he's laughing to himself as they fly up the charts with an equal amount of effort.
Good on her part. That's 2 basic/OVERLY generic/obvious"hits" that she turned down if you add Cheap Thrills to the mix. The way they would have stained her discography...
