I'm not expecting Joanne to be universally critically acclaimed. Regardless of the quality. I just don't buy that the usual bunch of critics are prepared to give her a break. She can do no right.
I wouldn't get caught up on it. We'll be hearing a lot of "Gaga's attempt at authenticity comes across as another character." and "Lady Gaga from The Fame is long gone and we can't help but miss her.".
Hey, maybe there'll even be a "Madonna already did it and better" for old times sake because she's wearing a cowboy hat.
