Because a lot of people aren't open about it. It's like if you had a fetish (your occasional gay urges), but you could still be satisfied just dating a girl like everyone else. And telling people about that fetish would make them label you gay and might kill your chance at a relationship with a woman (a looot of women don't like bisexual men and want their men to be manly men, which in society's eyes is hard for a gay or bi man to be). So they just keep it to themselves.
I don't think this will ever change until straight women stop thinking of the hyper masculine as the sexual ideal (which is really hard, nigh impossible, since we're kind of biologically programmed like that, hence bottoms also preferring that when it comes to tops -we want to be ****ed by someone we feel can protect us). Everything straight men do is to get laid, deep down. Teasing other men for being weak, being homophobic, fights, working out, all the "bro" stuff that ATRL complains about (and often sucks I agree), is the human equivalent of birds puffing their feathers to appear as the biggest and baddest to the females. The males of every species simply want to get laid. I could go on and on about this lol....
