And you assume all of them buy albums? Go look at the sales of half the artists ATRL stans for that you hear nothing about in the real world, and get back to me on how ARTPOP was only bought by the gays.

I mean, look at how much Kylie Minogue (an artist who truly only relies on gays, at least in the US) sells
The vast majority of any pop girl audience is straight women, Gaga included. Kylie is in fact an exception, because at this point her audience is actually mostly gay men. Hence Kiss Me Now selling like 150k worldwide.
Gaga, Britney, and Madonna all likely have more female fans than gays. You can't reach the level of success/peaks they had without having a fan base that's more than just gays. Kylie tho..yes!
