In all seriousness, these songs aren't bad, but I wish Gaga found a way to make this project sound more current. It's nothing Fleetwood Mac and other folk acts weren't already doing in the 70s but with more interesting melodies.
I wouldn't say worse than artpop. Just literally completely left field for her demo. Not even your average gp listen to this type of music anymore, its very old school country/alt.

She wasn't poor. She was a white middle class country girl who simply lived a simple lifestyle. Plus Britney did gymnastics, competed in pageants, and was on broadway from like age 5. Girl was hardley poor making money from the start of her life.

You need capital in order to put your income on hold while you go out on a limb trying to make your kid a star. They were middle class, maybe lower middle class, but not actually poor. She didn't grow up in a trailer or anything.
