There's a shock—ATRL is pressed because Gaga is making genuine, raw, authentic music. I mean, I wanted her to do more stuff like The Fame Monster, to be honest, but I think this album is going to be AMAZING. "A-Yo" and "Million Reasons" are both incredible, and I think "Sinner's Prayer" is a grower, too. "Perfect Illusion" wasn't a good representation of the album, but it was the most radio-friendly thing it had to offer and I think it kind of bridges the gap between her pop stuff and what will probably be a more acoustic, stripped back sound.

This sound really suits her vocals, though, and we all know that she really cut back on the stage antics and the obscurity after she started working with Tony (which I'm happy about—she doesn't need to do that to sell records). I'm not entirely surprised that the sound is not completely pop. And I'm fine with that, because it sounds good. We should just be thankful we aren't getting another ARTPOP this time around.

If she's rebooting her sound/image, they should've went for a song that reflected that. It would've made people say, "wait, this is Gaga?"

This. I'm seeing a lot of reactions of people being confused at her new direction. I still think she simply performed the more country-sounding songs for the Dive bar tour, she has already confirmed there is pop on the album. But yeah although Perfect Illusion is somewhat unconventional for Gaga, it wasn't the first time Gaga was serving us 80's pop/rock teas so I understand where people are coming from.

I wasn't shocked by the performance last night because the album cover and the tour promo already gave me the impression that she was going for something like this.

Yeah, after million reasons I'm not listening to any more tracks. Nothing worse then listening to an album for the first time and already knowing half of the songs.

They're good!

SP was the stand out for me. And at first listen I wasn't here for A-Yo, it felt too Uptown Funk/Shake It Off-y for me, but after listening in full and with better quality, it got me bopping

What is she doing in dive bars and singing acoustic country songs like a one-hit wonder who got dropped back in 2001? Does she not know her fanbase? She's just alienating more and more people. Some will stay and she might be making new fans but I seriously can't imagine it's so much that is worth a major release.

I'm all for artists going out of their box musically or visually, however, this is just way too polarising from what she was. She didn't get her fans by singing acoustic songs as Stephanie back in 2006. She got them with Redone and pop music. She needs to get over herself, which I thought she learned by now. Another era where she hasn't.

It sounds so presumptuous to concern yourself over whether or not she's learned anything or has failed to learn anything - who are you? I just find it obnoxious that people say she needs to get over herself when all they really need to be saying is that they don't like the new direction in her music. There are some expectations that Lady Gaga fans just need to let go of, and I don't say that as a slight to Gaga, but more towards the deluded monsters that say they still like her but moan constantly.
