If Gaga cared that much about being "progressive" and "forward-thinking" that she would eschew anything mainstream, then why would she work with someone whose biggest hit is a Justin Bieber record You make NO SENSE.

And obviously she's not completely above working with Luke seeing as her label scheduled meetings with him back in the day (BTW era)

I think they hoped it would be, she was promoting the song to iHeart execs before it even came out. An era from an artist like Gaga is a big deal to a record label, and Perfect Illusion isn't some alternative artistic experimentation, it's a very concise pop song that was clearly written to be very catchy and appealing.

'BloodPop' is a horrible name and the guy seems like a twat though so maybe Godga is doing us all a favour by ruining his career.

BTW, Los 40 Principales (biggest radio network in Latin America) is playing this flawless EDM Perfect Delusion remix. It can save the song from completely flopping just like Into You became a radio smash here because of their remix that was played all the time too.

Because he's not a huge established hitmaker, he's just a guy who's had one huge hit who's not quite yet a proper big producer. It makes sense to pick someone like him if you want someone who you can rely on for a hit but won't scream "sellout".

I'm pretty sure her label was aware that Perfect Delusion sounds nothing like what's currently smashing (they do this for a living, they are not these stupid people we all love to think they are).

But yeah, I'm also sure they weren't expecting it to be flopping like this.

It may not sound like most stuff on the charts but it's still catchy. I honestly think that with normal vocals and a better video it could have been a hit.

Part of the reason PI is dropping so much is because Gaga hasn't been out promoting it. Like I've said, it's going to rebound (no matter how slightly) in 2 weeks when she starts the TV promo circuit for the album.

Of course the main reason is that it's just not a radio-friendly song. It's a good song that has grown on me, but it is not at all a typical hit record.
