The sequel to So Gone, this track simply means to “GET THE F*** OUT and LEAVE ME THE F*** ALONE”! Though I’m not sure how she made it that point when she got jealous in the first video and trashed his stuff for no reason With Missy Elliot’s beats, the song is sort of an inspiration for rap artists. And don’t even get me started on the iconic Monica raps.
KAK declares this song his favorite from After the Storm, calling it “smooth and sassy. Classic Monica.”
Boy its dangerous game to try and play a chick like me
Serving as the final single from “After the Storm” USKB continued the success of the album, peaking in the top 20 of the Hot 100. This is also the first ballad that Monica released in five years.
Everything about this song brings tears into many people’s eyes whose spouses are locked up in the pen Basically, it’s all about trusting someone who is willing to wait for you during your hard times.
After her previous singles with dark hair, Monica decided to go blonde during the last days of After the Storm (maybe if she kept it dark, it might have peaked higher). Some people prefer the song as either cheesy or unoriginal. Sure, the lyrics are a little cheesy, but it definitely has flavor!
Buyonce1814: “cheesy song but I love it. She looked beautiful in the video.” Kool_Aid_King: “A rip off of U Got It Bad, but still really good. So much attitude.”
Monica decided to push things a little with Street Symphony. It’s a beautiful song about an ultimatum to her man who has fallen deep in the streets of crime and drugs, saying if he can’t get right, she’s leaving. How can a song be that deep, yet so good and powerful, especially with the entire “Atlanta Symphony Orchestra” in the background?! And I can agree with Latinazza with its “perfect instrumentation and great vocal delivery”.
If I can get him out of the streets, then he can come back to me

Okay. Everyone. Last song of the day. Before I post, I have a confession to make

There is no #6.......this song is actually a tie for #5. I will show this one today and the other tie for fifth tomorrow.......
Tied for 5th place with a song that shall be remained nameless til tomorrow , to me, this is dubbed as her “Signature Song”. I feel if you play Angel of Mine in front of somebody, they will definitely know the words and nostalgia. Sorry “Eternal”. The song was originally given to Eternal (UK R&B group) a couple years earlier, but it went to new lengths with Monica. Everyone knew this would be #1.
Besides The Boy Is Mine, Angel of Mine is one of Monica’s biggest worldwide successes! It eventually became her last consecutive Top 10 in the 90s!
Fun Fact: All of her released singles in the 90s were Top 10s! 7 consecutive! It’s also her third consecutive (and final) #1 to date.
Funny Fact: At the end of the music video when Monica is with Tyrese, and there’s a knock at the door, there was one Instagram post where someone said the was Brandy telling Monica, “You can have Mekhi now. I want Tyrese”!
