Even though Warner expected Madonna to become a huge star, they definitely didn't imagine how BIG of a star she would become in 1985.
Hit singles coming one after another and from different projects , the sutdio album selling like hot cakes.
She had Like a Virgin (song) coming from a six-week @1 peak - from late Dec 1984 until jan 26,1985 .
Then , Material Girl - the second single - 2 weeks @ #2 - March 23 and 30, 1985 ;
The first single from a side project : Crazy For You - 1 week @ #1 - May 11, 1985
The third single from LaV : Angel - #5 - June 29,1985
Another single from another side project : Into The Groove . So succesful that reached a #19 peak at the R&B Airplay chart (late July 1985)
The fourth single from LaV : Dress You Up - #5 - October 05, 1985 .
I think that, all in all, they did a pretty good job . Although every Madonna fan will forever regret Into The Groove not being released back then. Based on CHR/Pop Airplay from R&R + R&B Airplay from BB + other formats, chart freaks estimate its peak on radio to be around #2.
