1. It is no longer true that you need a big budget to produce a film or a short film.
There's film makers out there creating quality videos for very little. So it could become the standard, which I hope is true. But it would be hard for anybody to match Bey's work because she's incredibly engrossing as a performer, has money and has a very focussed vision. Those 3 things make it difficult to compete with her.
2. BEYONCÉ LP started the visual albums trend.
There were visual albums/mini movies released way before (including by Beyoncé herself), but it wasn't until after 2013 when other high profile artists (U2, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Florence + The Machine) started releasing visually driven projects, like short films/interwoven promo videos/visual albums, etc. You cannot sit here and deny her influence by bringing up Kanye West... cause if Kanye was so influential, we'd have seen the influx of short films in 2011/2012. We didn't. It happened over 3 years later after the release of BEYONCÉ.
It's never about who did it first (Jeffrey Daniels) it's about who did it "best" (Michael Jackson).
3. She raised the bar because she released a visual album with substance.
It wasn't just pretty to look at, it had a point to make. She tackled relevant themes with BEYONCÉ that were discussed even by leading feminist figures in the media. Lana released a short film in the same month, but no one cared because... it was boring and void of any meaning. LEMONADE did this even better. It told it's story literally, figuratively, symbolically and subliminally. It was a well executed film and a well executed album.
What's also important to remember is the way she released LEMONADE. I don't think an album has ever debuted on TV. I can see that becoming a thing for major artists.

Rihanna stans always trying to make Rihanna a thing Like some kind of force
Shut up! The girl is only known for her singles.. and 80% of them are forgotten once they fizzle out
The girl has ZERO impact

I don't think she thought of making the whole album a movie tho..I think that Frank thought of that..or maybe they both did so I don't think he was following the trend...
