I don't think the leak was significant enough to be a reason for it not to be released. The finished version would be very different (e.g. actually complete) so it's not like people already have the song as such if they downloaded it
honestly katy's the type of artist who shines more without a feature. excited to hear the final version. witness sounds like it has a lot of potential and i'm literally obsessed over the instrumental . i hope the leak had less impact than PoM's leak which she still released and went #1
Witness will not be the lead single for sure. If it's on a KP4 though, from the day the album drops, I see it getting a lot of attention (like Bieber's Love Yourself) and basically select itself as the second single (or it'll Dark Horse the second single if there's one out).
She needs to have a similar pre-album release campaign to PRISM, but pick the right songs this time. A huge chunk of her first week sales are gonna come from streaming, and in order to maximise the first-week streaming numbers she needs at least 2 singles out pre-album, and maybe 2 promo songs as well.
The problem with PRISM was she released 2 single-worthy songs as the promo tracks, and then Unconditionally was too weak in comparison to DH/WoA and even Roar, and thus couldn't compete, plus Unconditionally was released so close to the album, whereas she should release single #2 maybe a month before the album so by the time the album drops, it's built up enough momentum and is legitimately smashing.
High streams and track sales from current single, lead single and promo tracks = great TEA/SES contribution to album sales.
for promo she needs to use hillary clinton's political power and send an amber alert to the entire country of USA about how someone stole her album files and is planning to leak it a la Justin Bieber Beauty and a Beat and she should attach "can i get a witness? http://smarturl.it/KPWitness" at the end of the message
If we have to wait for 2 singles to come and go, then we'll be waiting til July 2017 to hear the rest of the album No thanks
1 single to come and go, 1 single to be currently smashing. It has to happen that way otherwise her sales will be ANTI level tragic, if not worse. I don't want the album until May 2017 anyway.
