Better policies for HBCUs and better job creation for working-class black people (black people are currently 2x as unemployed as white people) are the biggest issues imo. Especially when so much of his first term was about getting us out of a recession. The black community is still suffering economically, and his policies didn't outline specific protections for us. Wealth-building in the black community is one of the biggest issues we face and after eight years the Obama administration has done little to nothing in terms of helping with that. I'm not asking for sweeping, ground-breaking legislation here... all I wanted was some decent policy action.
Secondly, I am from Chicago so watching him sit back while CPS (Chicago Public Schools) shut down schools in predominately black/latino neighborhoods, supporting Rahm's mayoral campaigns despite his negative affects on inner-city schools/resources, etc. has been very disenheartening. I guess I realized that he was not some magical democrat and that he will publicly support DNC candidates no matter how appalling. Forgive me for not seeing Democrats through rose-tinted glasses after growing up in Chicago of all places. Politicians are politicians regardless of party affiliation, and I hold all of them accountable.
Honestly, if he even acted like he cared once each election season was over, I wouldn't be so upset at this point. Drinking filtered Flint water and putting on a show for the media instead of actually condemning the causes of the Flint water crisis, saying nothing as organizations on the south side of Chicago continue to beg for local trauma centers to curb deaths from gun violence, refusing to call certain things/people racist... there are only a few months left of his presidency and he still won't be outright with this kind of thing.
There have been so many excuses as to why he couldn't be vocal about issues affecting the black community, and all have fallen short. It's his final year and he still toes-the-line when it comes to public support.
Instead, we get speech after speech patronizing us. We do not get the gentle and compassionate treatment he uses with other marginalized groups. The audacity to tell black people it would be a stain on his legacy if we don't go out and vote, after saying for years he's the president of EVERYONE and ~not just black people~, is ****ing insulting.
Why in the world would black people come out like we did in 2008/2012 when we got nothing but empty promises? If anything ruined my perception of politics it was the Obama administration. The star of the first election I was old enough to witness, who convinced me wholeheartedly he cared and was progressive, let me down in so many aspects. Why would I blindly vote for someone he recommends when she can't even inspire me in the same way? I'm just expecting even less from her.
The only reason I am not leaving the presidential spot blank on my ballot is SCOTUS nominations. I don't want conservatives in those seats, but I'm not expecting progressives either (I am still annoyed about Merrick Garland...)

And I just love the faux outrage comments. Dismissing the concerns of young voters is exactly what Hillary and her supporters should be doing right now. Slay
I'm black. Gay. 18. Liberal. And live in LA (one of the reddest states in America). I understand the concerns of young voters, but I also know how politically ignorant we can be. Obama and Hillary have done great work.
So much more than that Idol Bernie y'all supported.
No Hillary has not put ads back up in Virginia and Colorado.
And lmao at the faux outrage at Obama. He could get away with saying "Get out and vote now black folks!" because we overwhelmingly support him and he's basically saying if u support me, then u need to support Hillary. That's no different than what every other surrogate is saying.
Nah, what Obama tried to do was terrible, no excuses. He tried to guilt trip black folks into voting for Hillary by saying it's a "person insult to his legacy" if we don't.
He hasn't earned it, he should just go away quietly.

Hasn't earned it? Debatable. He's not holy savior but he did do some good. Keep in mind that many of his progressive programs got blocked by a majority republican congress.
It's a bit hypocritical don't you think ? Imagine if Trump said that to white folks he would be rightfully called out . And he's not just another surrogate, he's the sitting President.
There's a difference in this situation and I'm not going to get into it with you because you're going to disagree regardless but there's a difference.
Also it makes me chuckle how people blame Obama for "failing" when really all you have to blame is the voting public that opts for deadlocked houses and senates that block anything from getting through. No President can do anything under those conditions.

You're clearly in a small circle on this. Most people don't want Obama to shut up either. He's just getting started.
As much as Stein despises Trump – and she really, really does – she describes the choice between him and Hillary Clinton as an abominable binary offering “death by gunshot or death by strangulation.”
But her contempt has a more cutting quality when she talks about Clinton. She mocks Trump as braying menace; Stein thinks he’s, at heart, a bumbler who will be neutered by his own party after being elected. But it’s Clinton who poses the greater threat, in Stein’s estimation, because she knows how to move the levers of Washington.
“Donald Trump, I think, will have a lot of trouble moving things through Congress,” Stein explains. “Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, won’t… Hillary has the potential to do a whole lot more damage, get us into more wars, faster to pass her fracking disastrous climate program, much more easily than Donald Trump could do his.”
The interview closes with Stein challenging Hillary to a foot race. For real.
Kasich already said that Trump only wants to sign things and make decrees, he'll leave the agenda-pushing to Pence & Co. That means every ideal that liberals fight for will be overturned by the Supreme Court if GOP like Pence shortlist the judges to Trump and he just goes says oh yeah they can have a hearing, go ahead.
UGH. Watch her telling her stans after a GOP victory to sign petitions to regain the right to an abortion/same-sex marriage like if that will change anything anytime soon.
Reince Priebus Threatens Kasich, Cruz, And Jeb: Back Trump Or We’ll Block Your Future Presidential Bids
Republican Party boss Reince Priebus on Sunday threatened GOP lawmakers who had yet to endorse Donald Trump with the possibility that he would work to prevent them from seeking the presidency if they ran again in the future.
“People who agreed to support the nominee, that took part in our process, they used tools from the RNC. They agreed to support the nominee, they took part in our process,” the Republican National Committee Chairman said on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
“We’re a private party. We’re not a public entity. Those people need to get on board. And if they’re thinking they’re going to run again someday, I think that we’re going to evaluate the process … the nomination process and I don’t think it’s going to be that easy for them.”
Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican nomination in July. Nevertheless, several prominent former candidates, like Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, have yet to offer their support to Trump.
If he gets crushed in VA and CO as expected he needs to pick off PA or else he could win a bevy of swing states and still lose.
Hillary (well both but I'll focus on her) needs 270 to win. She has a lead of 200 EVs in states that are considered solidly Democratic. If we add CO, VA, PA, and NH to her column (all places where she has an average lead of 5 or more) that brings her to 246. She's leading still in WI and MI (places Trump says he plans to compete but isn't doing well) so adding those together brings her to 272, and this is not adding the 1 EV she may get from Maine because he's competitive there.
So she could lose IA, FL, OH, GA, NC NV, and AZ and still would be at 272 which guarantees her the presidency.
Out of all the swing states she has (VA, CO, PA, NH, WI, MI) PA looks to be (on paper) the most likely to flip but he's so out of touch with us that he doesn't really stand a chance unless he has a game changing performance at the debates. With Virginia and Colorado completely locked out for him (and Michigan and Wisconsin never showing him with a lead even during his best weeks) he needs Pennsylvania as well as holding onto every one of those above states I mentioned
So yes he does need it to win. Technically he can win without it but it'll take a miracle, like what Bernie needed in the primaries
I just woke up from a dream where Hillary was doing a fundraiser on a boat and Sarah Palin and Donald Trump were sitting behind her (Trump was waving his hand like he had a flag, except his hand was empty; he kinda looked like he was on sedatives). Then some random Republican guy pushed Hillary overboard into the water... And she leapt out of the water, grabbed him by the lapel, and singlehandedly dragged him off to wherever the Secret Service were.
I just can't see how Trump stops Clinton getting 43 from those golden states. WI will go blue, PA is extremely likely, and Virginia is almost certain imo, particularly with the Kaine effect. Right there you have 43. And that assumes Trump will win every other swing state like NV and CO... which, again, is seriously unlikely.
Y'all need to chill thinking Trump will win. Clinton has got this.
Gary better brace himself, the media's coming again.
At a rally he made a mistake and said "Thank goodness no one got hurt" by the bombs going off in NY and a stabber in Minnesota. 29 people were in the hospital in NYC and 9 in Minnesota...
