I mean, the video will be fine. It's just a basic music video. Whatever.
I find it strange that so many of you are abandoning what made Gaga, Gaga. She is apparently done with bombastic videos with narratives, fashion, controversy, etc. But isn't that why we fell in love with Gaga? Because she isn't just releasing basic vids?
Idk, some of you guys are so quick to accept, "Well, this is what Gaga is doing now! Get over it! That Gaga is over!" Can't you see how this is upsetting for some Gaga fans that fell in love with her for the reasons you're saying to get over?
You guys are being such Gaga apologists. She could release a statement saying "No video, monsters. This song transcends visuals.. I want this to last forever with no pre-conceived image surrounding it. Just the magic that me, Mark, Bloodpop, and Joshua have put into the universe Create your own video in your mind, make this song mean something to you. #ARTPOP" and you guys would say its genius and she's gone through an artistic rebirth, is in a happier place, etc.
It's okay to criticize Gaga. Let people criticize her; this thread isn't just a vapid space for pure Gaga praise. Opinions are good.
I completely feel this post. I like Perfect Illusion and I still have faith she is going to serve a good album but I understand the Monsters that feel like she was lost her fire. It has nothing to do with how she dresses. You can move into a completely different artistic direction and still have that fire with you.
I will say, however, it is way too early to judge how this entire era is going to pan out even with PI's tragic opening. I may not understand some of her recent career choices but I will judge in due time when it is appropriate to judge.

For me what made Gaga Gaga was the music, and that hasn't changed. I've literally been waiting for this era ever since TFM. I love TEOG and it's one of my favorite videos from her, she needs to diversify her videography.
And no, that is not how we would react to her not releasing a video. Some of y'all are acting like she's done that when the video that we ARE getting literally looks great.

!!!!
Like is it so hard to understand?
I admit that I started stanning for her after watching the Telephone video. But not because of her fancy shocking clothes and etc. I was shocked how different it was. Her determination, her creativity and blah blah.
Judging by PI's single cover, the video teaser there is almost none of it.

The album cover is very beautiful tho.
She gave up. The ARTPOP era broke her, sadly
Maybe this PI mini era is laid back on purpose to get wet with the Gaga waters again.
She has a lot of exciting collaborations on the album that deserve high-creativity projects.
Full disclosure: I actually like the TEOG video and am excited for this video. I will just be bitterly disappointed if she never goes back to her opulent, resplendent videos. I love Perfect Illusion and the direction she's going. I am HERE for her abandoning pop and going into rock. But that's only because her artistry has never been entirely about pop music. Videos like Bad Romance and Yoü and I don't even need a pop song to go with then. That's one of my favorite things about Gaga, her videos.
But her staying in pop and just being kind of... boring? Not entirely here for that. But we aren't at that point yet. One understated video doesn't mean she's becoming boring. But if this whole era serves "stripped" then its just a "omg Gaga is acting normal!" gimmick. I suppose it had to happen at one point or another.
That video didn't have anything extravagant about it, but it still slays me.
We can get an amazing video without a plot. I'm not expecting this to be my favorite of all time, but I think she'll deliver visuals that match the song in a stunning way.
If the TEOG video had a little better editing, it would actually be a decent video. They could have even thrown in a few scenes from the Google commercial she did that year pf her running up and down the Brooklyn Bridge.

I'm not worried about the album at all. I know it will be excellent. But I'm worried about everything else. I'm worried about videos, about performances. We ain't gonna get another Gaga era until like 2019-2020, that's why I'm so afraid that she will left us disappointed for such a long time again.
If she has really decided that this should be a comeback video and a kickstarter for her (Lady Gaga) new era in 3 years, I don't wanna think about the ideas she will come up with for a second, third singles (if we ever get them)
