The thing with the original RSE is that there was SOOOOO MUCH to explore all on your own, and you RARELY got pointed in the right direction. I think it took me AWHILEEEEE before I finally figured my way to Fortree, and also Mossdeep, and also Sootopolis. Add that you literally had to travel alllllll te way from Lavaridge back to Petalburg, and from Petalburg alllll the way back to Mauville so you could head to Fortree... Whew it was like an ACTUAL adventure.

Whereas in ORAS... May literally teleports you to cities.
