I hate streaming and I know many people that hate streaming.
I'm sure there will always be a handful of people who'd prefer to buy and own music rather than stream it.

How do you even measure value of something like this? The value of art like sculpture and paintings are widely different based on the artist, time and other factors.

Which is why some artists, and labels have a pay what you want thing. A digital download released by a major artist has no physical properties so there is no price to cover for manufacturing and shipping.

Ebooks have been called overpriced, and they are for the explicit reason to make more money. These publishers are on an attack on Amazon to cut their power in the market. So are you justifying the greed of labels and publishers?

artists should go independent and take the profits themselves, and therefor being able to lower their prices. streaming will not COMPLETELY take over, but it will have the massive share of the market. since streaming came along there´s no real need for bought downloads tho. either u stream it to listen to it on a Daily basis, or you buy a CD or Vinyl to get the feeling that u really own a piece of the artist´s art, complete with booklet and all.
it´s really gonna be streaming (mass using) and physical (fans, collectors, older ppl until the Young adults of the 00´s get old.)

Also this. Independent should be the wave. People don't want to pay for music anymore so there's no point to continue being a label slave when you can make more by yourself.

Tidal pretending it was an artist cooperative but it wasn't.

A real artists label and streaming service cooperative should be set up.

Artists pay in money, they have in house A&R, managers etc - but it doesn't run for profit of the label, but the profit of artists instead, dividends are shared between artists and all artist revenue is kept by the artists, minus a share taken to cover the administrative costs of running the cooperative and paying the in house staff.

Well, I honestly don't know that much tea about tidal but im just here for an artists owned streaming service that's very pro-artists. And hopefully it will be handled better than tidal. this is the future of their industry and they should be able to profit the most from it.

Yep, that's what I think as well. The industry will try to kill off freemium -or at least make it less prevalent- and try to lead the consumers to the monthly subscription plans. Integrating that into the mentality of the public will be a pain in the ass though. "I have Netflix to watch TV and Spotify to listen to music" sounds very logical, but people have been getting music for free for so long, via piracy and then YouTube, that it will take time for them to accept a monthly fee for what was once free. I already made that change though, so I hope it works

Also, it'll be very interesting to see what Beyoncé does, tbh. She seems to not be fond of streaming even way before tidal. But, I believe she'll be one of the few artists who will continue to sell at least platinum for a while bc her core fan base has grown with her and embraced her even more but she also has a ton of younger fans who stream. She can accommodate both but doesn't seem willing to do so at this moment.

Music is not a necessity like water. It has a price and it will be determined by the ones who sell it and not by consumers. If you don't like that. Don't buy.
