If she drops everything at once how is she going to rebound the following week considering people still don't know about Gaga's comeback since she's not hyping anything this time around (thank god)? The song will gradually become popular once the radio adds kick in and it gains enough airplay. Just don't expect it to become quickly, new releases nowadays take weeks to take off and it's not just Gaga, it's everyone. Into You was released in late spring but it became really popular amongst the GP (me included) in July. Give it time. Time is the ultimate truth teller. All of the big releases this year started slow until they become hits (Work, Cheap Thrills, One Dance, Into You, etc.)
The second week will be even worse in my opinion. But around the third/fourth week when and IF it has enough airplay things will start changing, streams will get bigger, sales stabilising, etc.
You don't need to be #1 on iTunes in order to be #1 on BB. Gaga is Interscope's biggest artist, they want her to succeed, if they didn't like the single and if they didn't believe in it, they wouldn't have released it. Remember, in the end, Gaga is obliged to do whatever they tell her to and if they think that an extremely different song which has no analog on radio right now is the best way to start her new era, then PI wouldn't be released. Don't let some twinks with no logical sense get to you. These people are multi millionaires who get business better than ATRL. The best you can do right now is to enjoy the song, live your life and maybe after three weeks to check its chart run again
Gaga always relied on different sounds, JD and PF were all groundbreaking - literally taking months to take off. BR got an obnoxious review on the RS (2/5 stars) and it took off weeks after its release, the same with Applause which became a stellar hit in late September. The only exception is Born This Way who became a big smash because of her brand at that time. and if it wasn't for her popularity it would have underperformed because it also had no analog on US radio. So, people, take a chill pill and prepare for an even worse second week because things will start changing in late September.
I can't believe I spent so much time explaining how things work but I am honestly tired of people dragging this amazing song which includes no autotune and real instruments just because it "flopped". Would you like the song better if it still was #1? Don't answer me, think about it.
All the songs in the top ten on itunes are discounted/have radio play. Perfect Illusion is brand new and hasn't received any promo. I don't get why this is so hard to understand
The GP are streaming and buying, but the other songs have way more exposure. Let PI build on radio and get some promo.
I think a slow tempo version of this would sound so much better. It's like too much is happening in those 3 minutes, neither her vocals get to shine nor the instrumental, while both are good individually.

Yeah. I hated the song first few times, wrote it off and trashed it for 2 days. Now that I gave it a chance again, I realized that nothing in particular is bad, just everything put together is a bit of a mess. It's elevated from 4 to 7 for me now, but general people won't give it so many tries and therefore fail to appreciate it.
