And the funniest thing is that I remember Kerber's last year's match at the USO against Azarenka. I said she was always going to be a decent Top10 player, but she lacked something that could make her #1.
Kerber is the new queen. Winning 2 Slams in 1 season.. when was the last time the player wasn't Henin or a Williams... this season is unthinkable. Kerber has won more prize money in 2016 than what she earned in the 10 years before combined.
2 GS titles, now i demand an induction into the tennis HoF. Maybe she can add 1 or 2 in the coming 3-4 seasons that she will play.
During the Open Era, Germany has 2 GS champions, Steffi Graf (22) and Angelique Kerber (2) = 24 titles in singles... that's awesome for my little country.
I wonder if Serena will ever get #1 back...she just doesn't play many tournaments.
Well if we're being positive last year Serena was 2 match away from the Calendar GS. This year she was only 4 match away despite dealing with a lot more injuries. I still believe she can win them all...
As for the number one ranking, she'll get it back with her superior slams performance, I don't expect Kerber to keep this up tbh.
