Seems like you're putting an asterisk next to Bey's success
Formation 174,000*
*only because black people bought it
racism is alive and well, fellow atrlers
Well, why not? It's a black empowerment anthem. Why wouldn't black people identify with the song and purchase it more in proportion to other races? I'm sure a lot of people who purchased Born This Way were gay.
Isn't there a statistic out there that black people are more likely to purchase movie tickets, watch television legally, etc.? It just makes sense that Beyoncé sells a lot when you factor in the loyalty of her black fans.
Why are urban artists doing so great on streaming platforms? Isn't it because young and the POC are less likely to pay for music... And as someone who went to her concert I can tell you that the place was 99% white. I am not surprised by your post though when I went to the Belgian date of FWT I met a black girl and she basically was shocked to see that the crowed was only white and said that we whites shouldn't like Beyonce because we can't understand her since we aren't black or something.. She also was bitter over the fact that we knew all he songs...why do you lot think that we can't love Beyonce because we are white... I don't care about Formation being a black-girls anthem...it's cool and all but I like it because it's a bop and being white won't stop me from stanning for Queen B. All of the Bey fans I know are either white or latinos so i don4t get your point at all
Love Gaga and PI but I find some of the replies defending these sales questionable when they were the same ones DRAGGING poor Katy and Brit Brit to death over similar/better numbers: http://atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1025632
Just don't be a fool and karma won't come back to get you.
it's like they forget and now it's all "omg well it's 2016 and streaming ya know?"
Music not the bling......I mean hopefully it goes up but my queen delivered quality so i don't really mind. If not you can all officially throw your virtual #LadyGagaIsOverParty from your mother's basements I guess

Honestly that's a decent debut. She came from an long break after an underwhelming era, she has to win people back. It can still grow & do well, debuts aren't always everything.
sounds familiar
