Britney became a legend before her career was over.
The only area she's just settled for being an icon is in overall music...in pop culture, pop music and entertainment she's a legend.
So Britney joins the ranks of Mariah, MJB, Madonna, Janet etc just releasing records that will flop but might occasionally have hits but overall are over.
Legendary status shines too bright for the flops to break them
Icons for the moment and icons are not safe though.
