I'm annoyed because it isn't getting much acclaim nor success even tho I love it. Also I'm annoyed at Gaga who still tried to make the song as worse as possible on purpose. It could've easily been radio friendly and not grating for listeners

The reality is that she released Perfect Ilusion as the 1st single and we will have to deal it. The song is good (imo), and i'm enjoying it. The charts/reviews and all that **** is not important to me. Maybe for the others it is. I stan for people that don't do great on charts (not Gaga), so i don't really care for that.

A lot of people thought Applause would be a massive flop since it started to get red updates and was even blocked since the beggining and yet was a top 5 hit with multiple weeks inside the top 10 on Billboard Hot 100.

I'm not saying this will happen with PI too, but just shows that a first week don't decide the future.

It's been proven that people get a "high" listening to pop music because you can predict what is coming next in the song. When you're right, your body produces more dopamine.

Perfect Illusion defies a lot of typical pop tropes. It builds on that first "chorus" and then goes back to the next verse. The key change comes out of nowhere on first listen. You expect the adlibs to be at a lower tone than the bridge vocals. Not to mention her belting, high energy thrown in the whole time as opposed to the easy listening we come to expect.

Once you start to understand the structure of the song itself and can follow along in your head, you start to really embrace the pop elements that remain.

This new era will determine if she is an icon that can comeback and set herself up to be a legend in the making in the future or if she'll be stuck as an icon.

So Make or break really is moreso the transition from being an icon vs. legend

I'm sure her new era will fare better than Artpop but less than 10 years in the game has a "make or break" element...just not for determining whether or not her career is over.
