I love Britney, but let's not pretend she didn't decline with her third album.
I'm A Slave 4 U peaked at #24 and all the singles that followed flopped.
I also have a feeling "Perfect Illusion" will outpeak "MATM" on the charts.
Did Britney sell more copies of her albums back in her heyday? Yes. But that was 10-20 years ago when record sales were exponentially higher.
So if you look at it objectively, all last-gen pop icons (like Britney and Madonna) had ups & downs. It's normal.
They still had long careers in front of them and so will Lady Gaga.
