Don't you perhaps think that there's a reason as to why her most popular, recurrent and acclaimed songs are also her best selling ones ? Isn't Poker Face right now outselling all her other songs despite it being 8 years old ? We need to stop fooling ourselves

It's 2016. A #1 smash hit isn't needed for exposure anymore. If a song is really good and catchy, people will play it at parties, in their dorms, stream the video over and over, etc. What I'm saying is that yes it would be nice for her to slay top 40 but that shouldn't be the objective.
Poker Face is a classic pop smash that was so unique and fresh at the time.
However, we don't want another Poker Face because she's been there, done that. That would require her to pander to a certain audience and I don't think she wants to do that anymore. I bet in the long run, the song that didn't "slay" because it was so different and authentic for Gaga would have more impact than if she released the perfect radio, commercial smash. If you want evidence of this, I suggest you look at Beyoncé's career post 2012.
Gaga isn't the same artist that she used to be in 2008, it's time to accept that she should do what she wants without caring about going #1. She tried that with ARTPOP and look how that turned our. I personally think that Gaga should no longer cater to radio, let the newbies have that. What Gaga needs to do is solidify herself as an artist, performer, and someone who is worth investing in beyond singles. I bet that would do us, and her more justice than a quick lil hit.
