If she wants to reel the casual pop listeners back in, which she will need to do if she wants to be successful again, she has to be on Spotify, or else she will be missing out on a huge chunk of her potential listening audience.

There is too much hinging on this single not to have it available as widely as possible and Spotify is obviously the king of streaming. It would get this era off on a very bad foot if the first single isn't on Spotify, it would kill a lot of potential momentum, not just for the era, but for her streaming prowess in general, which is so integral nowadays.

Spotify is the biggest streaming service and she could also be missing out on quite a few casual fans listening.

That's the point of an exclusive - Apply is hoping the dedicated fans, if they don't already have Apple Music, will switch to Apple Music to hear Gaga. It's business whether we like it or not.
It'll go on Spotify eventually - I doubt the exclusive would be for more than a week or 2, unless there's a deeper tie in with Apple Music or the iPhone 7 or something. Plus you can stream it on YouTube, or buy it.
If people like the song enough, they will seek out the song whether it's on Spotify or not.

You people whining over an apple deal and spotify availability... My god. Whatever her team has planned is gonna happen. Worry more about if youre gonna love the song. Jfc

I really hope its not an Apple Music Exclusive single it will lose a lot of momentum It needs to be available in all streaming services. Only Drake has escaped it, because hes a streaming monster. Even Katy Perry underperformed

That's all I really care about at the end of the day, but it's worrying that they would potentially kill the era before it has even started by ignoring Spotify, it's an important issue and not something to be so blasé about. All I want is quality music, but if she has no success this era, then that jeopardizes getting new music in general, and getting great music videos and great promo, and being able to put on a great tour, and all of that.

I'm not worried in the slightest. I have 100% confidence in Mark Ronson. I should be saying Gaga but her track record isn't as tight. I can't think of one bad collaboration between Ronson + another famous artist. Every genre, he completely nails it.
R&B, Hip-Hop, Rap, Reggae, Motown, Funk, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Electronic/Dance. He's a ****ing genius.
He's also a good songwriter, as well as being supported by LADY GAGA and other very interesting artists. Stop crying.

I just exited a thread that said Mos Def is one of the most influential artists of all time. Guess who worked with him?
Who else can say they've collaborated with Aaliyah, Nate Dogg, Q-Tip, Ghostface Killah, Sean Paul, Pharrell, Estelle, Wiley, Wretch 32, Christina, Adele, Lily Allen, Amy, ASAP Rocky, Bruno Mars and now.. Gaga. Did someone ask for talent?
But we need RedOne!! they've been screaming since 2009.

!!! Being on Spotify isn't going to save her era if the song isn't good. But a great song, and album campaign will save her. She has Mark Ronson to collaborate with, and a Apple deal to help her promote. Drake had a very successful era with Views with his Apple deal. I saw so many commercials for his album, Gaga is going to need that same promo.

Damn.
This thread is such a mess literally from who the OP is to me posting just now cuz I was betrayed woohoo.
Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker, Bloodpop and Gaga
I just can't. When she announced this I was on vacation on the beach and I screamedT.
Also I was reading the last pages of this thread and laughing that y'all were having dreams and last night I had a dream Gaga released a new song But it wasn't PI it was something like Asiel ( jcashuehf )
And she was singing " From New York to _______" "From ________ to _______" but I don't remember what and she sung it at the Grammys (which is a good sign, you don't perform there unless you are nominated ) and Eminem appeared at the end and they got standing Ovation, but it was mainly cuz of Gaga her flawless vocals. Oh there was also a choir of young women dressed in black

I have full confidence in Mark Ronson, and in the work that he and Gaga have created together. I'd take Mark over RedOne any day of the week.

On the other side of that coin, even if the song is a masterpiece, if half the people that would want to listen to it can't because it's not on Spotify, then it's all for naught. And Gaga is not Drake, he is part of the zeitgeist right now, and would be heavily successful no matter what. Vastly different scenarios.

Again though, the exclusive is not forever. It's only at max 2 weeks. Which yes, 2 weeks could be detrimental to the beginning of the songs charting period, however they should be investing in longevity this time around. She's usually front loaded anyway. Like almost every big name that has done it this year has succeeded with it because it's not as dramatic as you guys are making it to be.
Not to mention, every era there's some excuse. This one will be it.
2011 - Promo singles
2013- changing singles for promo singles
2016 - Apple Exclusive
And yet, no one else really has these excuses to fall back on. If the song is a hit it will be a hit.

Well, if it's only 2 weeks, then that's not so bad, I thought it would be until the album was out or something. But still, it's pretty unnecessary, and the cons seem to outweigh the pros. It's not like she needs Apple's promo machine, by any means. And the initial interest from the casual GP listeners will be in those first 2 weeks, and if they can't listen on Spotify, then a lot will just give up.
And ARTPOP's "excuse" was that it was just a bad album. and I don't know why there were excuses made for BTW, it did just fine.
