There's still hope for a #1 on iTunes, at least for a couple of hours/days.

In the past 30 hours, Closer only got one single light green update, 5 white updates (stagnating) and 9 light red updates (which means it's slowly decreasing).
We're over 4 days apart from the release of Perfect Illusion and Closer seems to be slowly losing power.
With it selling about 210,000 copies last week due to the VMA performance, it could sell about 170-180k next week, which is probably more than PI will debut with and probably about 150k during the week of PI release.

BUT

That doesn't mean the song won't go to #1 at least during the first day during to the big momentum of the release. With PI most probably selling in the 120-150k range during the first week, she might lose the #1 spot on Hot Digital Tracks.
