The z-moves are so strange, like snorlax making that massive explosion thats actually the size of a city in pokemon, then it just cuts right away back to the tiny battle field, all the trainers would have been killed in the area
Z moves are a pretty underwhelming mechanic tbh. I don't see them selling the games the way Megas were used to sell XY and ORAS. I'm more excited for the new Pokemon, Alolan forms, abilities and region more than the Z moves which I will probably use a couple times in game then never touch them again
Also, don't shoot me, but in Yokai Watch, when the Yokai are using their special moves, the name of the move flashes on the screen and the animation is super dramatic like Z moves. It works in YW because the game is tongue in cheek, but I'm not big on it in Pokemon :/

It's not something Yokai Watch created. It has been done by numerous fighting games.
Fatalties come to mind. But im suspicious on the marketing of having accessories now to pair with the games. Did the mega ring toys really sell that well to have Pokemon CEOs go "hmmmm if we can create another gimmick and attach to a toy we can again sell x number and profit!" ?
I'm personally not a fan of these types of Gen gimmicks, see the dust mega evolution gets now. So I wonder if future gens will have some type of ~bond~ gimmick that helps sell a toy.
I agree with whoever said about the games getting easier. I swear my playthrough of XY right now is the easiest I've ever had of any main series game. I'm only 5 badges in but still. Maybe things will change as I move forward in the game.

They practically hand you Yveltal and Xerneas. I remember catching Xerneas in a regular Pokeball with its health in the yellow and thinking WTF
