No. And honestly, her performance wouldn't be considered anything less than good had she not gone on right after Bey. People act as if MTV had any control over how these performers performed. Should they have been more considerate of Britney? Feeling this way just goes to show how Brit's fans and the world view her as some delicate little artist who needs the world to lower expectations every time she takes the stage.

There use to be a time when Bey and Brit could perform at a show and no one cared or worried about the other being overshadowed. Don't blame MTV or Bey. They did their jobs.

It was a bad performance. It would have been bad as an opener, or right before Beyonce, or as a closing performance. Beyonce is not the variable by which Britney is being judged. Britney is. Even if Beyonce didn't perform, Britney's performance would still have been an amateurish non-event. Stale, disjointed choreo from 15 years ago, messy lipping, zero chemistry between the performers... None of this has anything to with MTV or the time slot. It should comfort the Army that MTV had faith in Britney and her team to deliver a good performance, rather than intervening and asking them to come up with something better.

Makes sense seeing as both artists performances were back to back..

They didn't betray Britney.

It's a new crew. Not the same crew of the early 2000s.

She used them to help in her iconic legacy.

They never awarded her for videos that deserved awards: Baby one more time, oops, slave, toxic

They BETRAYED her in 2007 when they set her up when they knew she wasn't in the right state of mind.

They made up for it in 2008.
She didn't even bother showing up in 2009 because she didn't need to.
THey awarded her the vanguard before any of her peers because she has to most iconic videos and performances


For Britney and team it's now about promotion and not about a relationship.

Britney got a lot of mileage out of that performance and returned to the stage after a disastrous 2007.

MTV owes her nothing. Britney owes them nothing but WHEN britney wants to appear, perform or do whatever MTV will oblige

Oh my God, this is so embarrassing.

It's not Beyoncé's fault Britney's performance was mediocre (to say the least). If Britney had enough pull on MTV and her team this would not have happened.

I actually blame her team more than anyone for this. They just once again showed how incompetent they can be.
