Kerber is a great champion as well.. a late bloomer which is true, but why do you hold every girl to serena's standards when only very few champions achieved what serena achieved.

Kerber has a great season this year - her best one so far. 2 GS finals.. that's unthinkable for a german girl. What gain do you have from degrading her success?

Does your fave Serena need you to degrade other players or what?

Aren't the serena fandom the first to point out that a long career (post 30 y.o.) shows much better talent than a shorter active career?

She is 28, she could play at least 6 more seasons. Maybe she could get 2-3 more GS titles in the coming years.

I would not characterize her as a great champion. It's too early to say. But to even compare her to Steffi by saying "the next Steffi" is outlandish at best.

I don't degrade her success by comparing her to Serena. If anything her year is arguably even better than Serena's (arguable but idk one slam plus a silver medal kinda beats Serena's one slam). I only had a problem with thinking Angie is anywhere near Graf's level considering she has like what... 11 titles? At most :laugh.

6 seasons to play yes but only 2-3 more seasons at slam winning form. She will not be successful enough for slams at 31 or more. I do agree with you she could win 2-3 more slams but my guess is she won't win any more.

but here in germany, every successful german player is compared to steffi. Kerber isnt the first major gal from the motherland who got some success.. we had Anke Huber during Steffi's reign who reached the Masters Final in 1995 and the Final at the AO in 1996. Then we had young players who never lived up to the hype.. and then nothing for so long and then we had the 5-punch that are Lisicki, Petkovic, Görges, Kerber & Siegemund/Witthöft/Beck... and so far only Kerber made it to the table. A GS title and a GS Final in the same year + olympic gold... she is heralded as our new Steffi-like player with at least some prospects of big titles.

U have to see that Kerber's 2016 season is even more successful than 3 of Graf's seasons: 1997-1999. Something which has never happened before because every german gal failed at attempting a season remotely close to a Graf season and here Kerber beats 3.
