Beyonce's fine in that department given her anti-streaming measures (i.e. VOTY VMA winner Formation still being unlisted), so that's not an issue.

I think what works for Beyonce is that she's tapped into what people care about today. If Gaga were to be her usual high art, conceptual self, she'd have to bring a lot more than walking naked through a forest.

The public just isn't in a place to care about those things. It rings more funny than informative.

I'd say her presentation is very pretentious in the old school "this is what art should be" nose up sort of way. Not the pretentious Lana tumblr'd hipster art approach (which Beyonce used for Lemonade) that all the kids love. Hmm. Gaga doesn't feel fresh at all.

I mean, an Applause-sized hit would be fine for her. It's not the stan war'd ''FOOT ON YOUR FAVE's NECK'' type slay but it's respectable.

And I think it's a given it'll be a better song than AppeSHIT so...

I agree that Fad needs to attach herself to *some* kind of gimmick, either a social cause (although she already used up rape victims and gay rights, and anything race-related might come across as opportunistic and condescending), or something akin to Ray of Light's new age spirituality ****, but something that's relevant for today's audience.

Gaga is just not interesting to the standards of post 2010, music has shifted to a faceless state. Visuals only play a role in form of social media. Gaga's classical approach to art has no place in pop culture anymore.

Beyst is winning 2016 so far but it's kind of embarrassing how she cannot get a hit. "Hold Up" is already plummeting and never made it to the Top 10, and that song should be a smash.
