Basically, "Closer" was going to smash no matter what, Halsey just made it smash faster because her relatively small but obsessed fanbase bought it quickly, so it debuted Top 10, radio got on board really fast and momentum shot it up to #1. I'd also argue they wouldn't have gotten to perform at the VMAs with a smaller featured act.
We were all so pressed.
That's still baffling, even tho it was on preorder for months.
She's just another faceless vocal in edm songs.
