Hmm, after avoiding listening to the pre-release tracks and having low expectations I actually like most of the album thought it does feel like a downgraded (or just so polished it removes the charm) version of the previous three. I imagine it would be accessible for those who want to get into the band. Edith did a good job replicating Alice, and the latter should hurry up with that album of hers.
Also, amen to the III praise on the previous page. The album saved me back then.
Repeated listens really does wonders for this album. It's a bit of a grower
Concrete,Char,Fleece,TKIAC and Kept are the best tracks.
Ornament is the weakest one.
This is probably my fave album by them after (I), lmao, mess, I just personally think (II) is quite overrated since it has like a lot of filler with amazing standouts and (III) is consistent and cohesive but a lil' boring
(III) had 33 critics and this one has 11 so far so hopefully there's a lot more to come and it's not just that critics are over them Pitchfork, AllMusic, and most relevant publications have yet to give it a score, so hopefully they'll do it justice and won't be biased when it comes to certain things.
Every song in this album is excellent tbh, weakest one is probably Concrete but it's still great.
imo this is is their most cohesive album too besides (III) and their most consistent besides (II).
the album review is a joke, they don't even focus on the music that much and they LOVE to put Kath as the assh*le of the story, but indeed... they gave us a kii
love the Edith praisetho and I agree in something with Pitchfork, they can use a lot of Edith's personality in the upcoming records she has something different and I hope that Amnesty was just the ''interlude'' for the next CC
. They are still better than a lot of other artists, but this album is unfortunate compared to previous albums
