Guys, are the rankings frozen during Grand Slams? I mean, are we sure Serena has another week at #1 on lock so she beats Steffi?
This is going to be sooo intense. Like, there are 4 players who can become #1 after USO. Serena has the most points to defend, she's really the girl to beat now.
I really want Aggie Radwanska to finally get herself together and take advantage of her easy draw. I mean, Bacsinszky in 4R, Venus in QF, she really shouldn't have problems with them if plays well.
Also, Monica Puig's performance is going to be interesting. A possible rematch with Muguruza on her way.
Looking forward to seeing Novak winning another title. Come on!

Yep rankings are frozen during the slams. So even though Serena only has 184 weeks consecutive going in, doesn't matter if she loses R1 (and thereby loses the ranking) you don't lose it during a slam so she won't lose it until the end of the fortnight, giving her at a minimum of 186 consecutive weeks. If she doesn't lose it then she will have at minimum 187 weeks, creating an all time record
Obviously Kerber has the best chance but Agnieszka and Muguruza have a chance too.
To guarantee Serena stays number one she must reach the SF AND Kerber must not reach the QF. If Kerber reaches QF, Serena must reach the F. If Kerber reaches F, Serena must win it
Kerber's chances are as long as Serena doesn't reach the SF if she doesn't reach the QF. If she does reach the QF, Serena must reach the F and obviously if Serena reaches the F Kerber must win it
Muguruza has to make the F regardless of what Serena or Kerber does at first. If Serena reaches F or if Kerber reaches SF, Muguruza must win.
Radwanska, with a W in New Haven, must at least reach F to be number one. If she reaches F, Kerber must not reach R4, Serena must not reach SF, Muguruza must not reach F. If Kerber makes QF or SF, Radwanska must win (cannot get number one if Kerber reaches F). Muguruza also must not W (but if Radwanska wins of course Kerber will not)
So it's gonna be a close event!
