This. Some people are just used to her over-processed Max Martin/Dr. Luke vocals, so unless it sounds like that, it's off to them. I get why, but it's a shame how some people just don't know that she has used other singing styles as well over 8 albums. Even her demos features some very crazy singing styles that have yet to ever make it to some of her actual official recordings (most for good reason).
She was mentioned like 9 times in the BJ booklet btw. 
But you're onto something...
