i love this great review on Reddit
Quote:
Conclusion: Like all Britney albums, this song has it's ups and downs (even her Greatest Hits did - hello My Prerogative?) but overall, this album is a return to form. I want to erase BJ from her discography except for the fantastic light-feathered jam entitled Work Bitch, but I cannot. Glory more than makes up for it. It's introspective, it's fun, it's raw, it's dancey, it's pop, and there are some amazing standout songs on it.
As I write this conclusion, "Invitation" plays again, and this time, after listening to the entire album it becomes more apropos. It's an Invitation to where she is now, personally and privately, but as is industry standard, it's wrapped up in sex metaphors and diva posturing. But if you listen underneath all of this, you can hear her truer invitation for you to come step into her world.
Our world has not been kind to Ms. Spears. We've been cruel to her, we've trashed her, idolized her, put her on a pedestal then pushed her off, we've shaved her head, made her drop her baby, endangered her children's lives, sexualized her then demonized her, and through it all, she's lived. She's survived. And most all, she's thrived. Britney is the ultimate underdog, even though she IS a true star, and a top tier celebrity.
I always find myself rooting for her, as much as I make fun of her, and over everything, she has It. That It that makes her completely undeniable, and inevitable, and I hope Glory gives her that return to glory she deserves.
