Well...not him per se. The rumour is that his parents are from North Korea but Renjun was born/raised in Jilin China.
As to how his parents got from NK to China is the mystery
Due to this proximity, many North Koreans escaping their country pass through Tumen, Jilin. Tumen is also the location of a large detention center for captured North Koreans awaiting deportation.
