Not true. My brother, his wife and children are muslim. While she doesn't wear the burqa, her sister chooses to because she believes in reserving her modesty. Yes there are many cases where women are being oppressed and pressured into wearing this, but there are also some women who genuinely want to wear it and that's fine.

Obviously you can't force someone to stop believing what they want to believe. There are alternatives for the burqa like hijabs.

Banning burqas would be helpful for muslim women in future generations. The idea that women are supposed to wear burqas would slowly disappear.
