WHAT THE ****
It's literally the best song on the album by MILES
It's EASILY a fan favorite from ALL the opinions I've seen
WHY would they do that
THEY ARE ACTUAL TRASH
Quick conspiracy theory: Beach House are managed by the same people who (until recently) used to manage Alice, and also manage HEALTH, which Jupiter (Alice's borderline-abusive controlling boyfriend) is (was? It's very unclear) part of. Coincidence? I think not.

Finished my second listen and I am mostly satisfied with the album which still surprises me. When I heard the first couple of bits on Soundcloud I was prepared for a complete disaster but right now I pretty much enjoy every track. I think it's the weakest album of theirs but all I really wanted them to do was prove that CC still has good music to offer even without Alice and I feel like they succeeded in that regard. My biggest complaint would be that some of the songs like Ornament or Frail feel somewhat aimless and Edith just doesn't inhabit songs like Enth the way Alice did.
So now that I listened to the album around 20 times, here are my thoughts:
Quote:
The strongest songs on the album are Femen, Fleece, Char and Kept.
Femen is a great opener and is different than their usual sound. I love the instrumental and this style. It reminds me of Björk and FKA twigs at points. Char is like the Celestica of the album (but not as good) & Kept is the best song on the album and a highlight in their discography.
Weakest songs on the album are Enth, Sadist & Chloroform, but they're still better than (I)'s and (III)'s weakest moments.
Teach Her How To Hunt is a cute interlude, it's really ambient and scary which I like.
I love the vocal sample that's used throughout Ornament, but the song is overall pretty repetitive and nothing really happens.
The last track works great as a closer, but all the moments before the beat drop are quite uneventful and uninteresting.
I've noticed they kinda use the same formula they used in previous albums throughout this album too (the closing track is a notable example). Making the album a little unambitious imo.
