When did I say it would be a surprise release? She an still make an announcement...
My bad!
Still, I love the anticipation of seeing the tracklist revealed, having the album cover revealed etc etc. I would honestly hate for that to happen, but I would say it's pretty likely.
I'd honestly be here for the album alongside it's making of documentary. It will teach us how to interpret each track instead of listening to it without a clue of what it's about. It can make us feel connected to Gaga's thoughts while making the album & it's creative process. It may sound cheesy but I like that idea.

I understand. It's a different approach for Gaga. But you never know until you experience it. Maybe it will be better than a traditional campaign. I still thinks he should have plenty of promo slots, interviews & performances afterwards, I just think having the whole album at your fingertips all at once may be a great experience. It will also be a much more fun era than ST/Lemonade because she'll still do promo to keep us entertained.
Although I don't want it. Having the full album out in its entirety without a lead single but having it announced at least would be great. If we get the big package all at once it'd mean that she'd have to be smarter about single selection, videos, performances. Also the usual pre era complaining about certain things would be minimalized because of the overload of music and imagery to consume.
I really hope LG5 is Gaga's Heroes: big, epic sounds that are rich in live instrumentation and powerful vocals with tracks that are simultaneously bizarre and catchy. I wouldn't mind an instrumental track overseen by Gaga either since she's working with legendary guitarists, maybe as an interlude of sorts.
IDK why but something about the finding yourself/peace of mind stuff that she has been talking about (Yale talk, meeting with Dalai Lama, Woman of the Year interviews, etc.) tells me that the next Gaga album is going to be a social commentary. And that the potential documentary is going to be about getting the message of the album out more so than it is about a "behind the scenes making of" if that makes sense.
This bitch better not do a surprise release - especially after she shaded Beyonce for doing one. I want to enjoy the thrills of a lead single announcement, lead single release, album title announcement, tracklist reveal, and an album cover reveal before the album release.
I kinda don't care for a lead single anyway. They're too hyped up and the honest truth is that their importance is placed too high over the importance of the album project as a whole. She doesn't have to do a surprise release to not release a lead single before the album, but I understand why y'all don't want a non conventional release. Even though she's done a conventional release for literally every era she has done.
