That's a bad theory since grats are meant to entice buyers. I will say I think PS/Clumsy will end up not being the top choices, though I'm loving them both.
They should have waited to do something like 1D/Ariana; releasing tracks day by day/every other day leading to the album. And continuous banner/hot tracks exposure.
But MM didn't completely collapse post pre-order and PS is still T100 so people are enjoying.
